Civil War Living History

ARTIST HANDS OF SEQUATCHIE TERRITORY,  A.H.O.S.T.,  is a non-profit organization (501(c)(3) dedicated to the preservation of folk and traditional arts and crafts, is inviting you to join us for a rich cultural experience in the beautiful Sequatchie Valley of southeast Tennessee.
 

On May 21st and 22nd, 2011 (Sat. 9 am-5pm and Sun. 11 am-5pm CST) A.H.O.S.T. (Artists Hands of Sequatchie Territory) will host its 6th annual Log Cabin Days Arts and Crafts Fair.  The show will be held at McBay's Log Cabin Village two (2) miles north of Pikeville, TN on U.S. Highway 127.  The location is approximately a 50 minute drive from Chattanooga, 90 minutes from Nashville or Knoxville, with easy access and free parking and free admission.  Camping will be available in the rough.
 


A.H.O.S.T. - Our Mission

Purpose:  To promote all of the arts in the Sequatchie Valley region and to recognize and preserve folk and traditional arts and crafts., To encourage and offer support to our members and their talents and to promote opportunities for learning and growing.

Objectives:

  1. To create and foster a spirit of understanding of the diverse aspects of the arts.
  2. To promote a forum for the open discussion of all matters related to the various concepts of visual art.
  3. To involve the public in a variety of artistic endeavors of our membership.
  4. To establish an Art Gallery, the scope of which shall include exhibition, storage space, areas for instruction, meetings and special events.
  5. To conduct events such as shows, auctions, artist's demonstrations, teaching seminars, live model art sessions, landscape painting and trips to other art-oriented events and galleries and other events recommended by the Executive Committee and approved by the general membership.

Our Visions:

1.   To conduct a free summer art camp for kids.   
2    To offer community concerts and dances.   
3.   To produce exhibits and art shows highlighting local talent, as well as establishing an arts and crafts colony where we will have shops, galleries and classrooms.
4.   To provide continuing art education programs in area schools.    

 

 

We welcome all artists of any medium or genre:  musicians, poets, writers, dancers, actors, singers, sculptors, woodcrafters, bonsai or plant artists, painters, clay, fabric, knit-crochet-sewing, magicians, weavers, spinners, basketmakers---the list is endless.  However, all work must be handmade by the artist.  We also welcome any volunteers, visitors or those who just want to learn or help.
